Mason Bee Program
Naturehood's Mason Bee Program is offered in the Portland area to public and private schools. Through hands-on science lessons, students will learn about mason bees, their importance, and our interconnection with them.

Year 1
Spring:
Life cycle, adaptations, and nesting season of mason bees.
Raise mason bees.
Reflect on students' experience, the mason bee life cycle, and their importance.
Year 2 and Beyond
Winter:
Investigate the mason bee nests/cocoons students raised last spring.
Spring:
Ongoing concepts and topics related to mason bees. Examples include:
How humans mimic mason bees in our lives.
Solitary versus colony bees.
How plant design attracts mason bees.
Raise mason bees.
Reflect on students' experience and our interconnection with mason bees.
Students learning about adaptations of a mason bee.
Kindergarten class exploring mason bee cocoons.
